Overture to the Force of Destiny
Brief Programme Notes
This piece is the overture to the Italian opera La forza del destino (The Force of Destiny) by Verdi. The opera was rumoured to be cursed and before stating the line "Morir, tremenda cosa" ("to die, a momentous thing") the 48 year old American baritone Leonard Warren died of a massive heart attach with his last words being: "help me, help me".
