Andy Johnson
Andy is currently the the principal Eb Bass for Kibworth Brass Band and the Northamptonshire County Youth Brass Band for the last 2 years. In 2006 Andy recorded, alongside Rory as the principal Tuba on the Northamptonshire Orchestral Winds debut CD named Celebration featuring major works by Philip Sparke.
Andy began playing the tuba in the Salvation Army, at the Rushden Corps. This was accompanied by tuition at his school via Jon Lloyd and Paul Truman of the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Service. Several years after starting the tuba, Andy also began taking private tuition on the piano, attaining Grade 8 after 4 years. This was preceded by achieving Grade 8 on the tuba the year before.

Andy has been just as diverse with his piano playing, having performed many times not only as a soloist, but playing regularly with local choirs. Most notably, Andy helped the Northamptonshire County Youth Orchestra to an ‘Outstanding’ performance award at the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth at the Birmingham Symphony Hall, playing the virtuosic piano part of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. Andy regularly accompanies Rory, most recently at the Northampton Festival of Music, where Rory placed first in both of the categories he entered. Andy is going to study music in September 2008 at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
